Sky Top Orchard

A fun trip to make this Fall

September 3, 2021

Last week we made our annual trip to Sky Top Orchard. It was an absolute perfect Fall day as far as weather and the pickin' was good! Sky Top is located just 30 minutes from downtown Greenville. We live downtown Greenville and it felt like it was practically in our backyard. Just a short drive to get to this beautiful location.

Sky Top offers U-Pick apples and the orchard is huge and comes with a view. There is no admission to get in the orchard. They provide wagons and baskets for your apple picking experience and once you are finished you will take your goods to the barn where they will hand you plastic bags to transfer your apples to, from your baskets and then weigh them. They charge around $1/pound for the apples (I think $1.08 was the price) and we came home with a whole big bag for $8. 2014 prices)

In addition to picking, Sky Top offers homemade apple doughnuts (We have never been able to purchase on a weekend. The line is always huge! But I've heard it moves fast), a big play area with several swing sets, slides, hay stacks and apple and pumpkin shaped play sets. You can enjoy a hay rack ride for $2 per person (purchase tickets inside where you weigh and measure your apples) and browse the merchandise area where you can buy water, apple slushies, pie, bags of apples and pretty much anything apple you can think of. Remember to bring cash as credit cards are not accepted!

Parts of the orchard are slanted and hilly so taking a stroller can be tough. I brought my Ergo baby carrier for my 5 month old and the other 2 older children walked. I imagine it would be tough to walk a stroller throughout the orchard and manage your apples, but plenty of people bring and use strollers.

A visit to Sky Top is definitely a great way to spend a Fall day with your family that won't break the bank.
