Youth Capture the Colorful Cosmos Exhibition
Oct. 28 – Nov 22
In collaboration with the Smithsonian & Harvard.  Amazing temporary astrophotography by students from Penny Fischer Middle School and Sterling Middle School.  Limited hours, see website for details. Included with daily admission $9 child; $10 adults. Members free. 

Open Art Studios: Felt Family Tree
Weekdays from 1:00-4:00pm; Weekends from 2:00-4:00pm
This supervised arts & crafts session allows all ages to use their imaginations and our materials. Featured craft is a felt family tree that is designed to show how grateful we are for our families.  

First & Future Artists of Space
Nov 1-23, check website for exhibit hours
An exhibition in collaboration with the Smithsonian and Harvard featuring astrophotography by local middle school students and original works of art on loan from the T.L. Norris Gallery by famed NASA Illustrator Renato Moncini, also known as the First Artist of Space. 

Early Childhood: Feather Fun 
Nov. 4- 8 @10 am, 11am and 1pm
Ages 5 & up have a great time using yellow, red, green and even pink feathers to create their very own feather collage. Located in the Get up and Grow room. Free with paid admission. 

Finance for the Family
October 30 @ 6pm & November 6 & 13 @ 6pm
The Greenville County Human Relations Commission and the Children’s Museum of the Upstate are offering a new pilot program for qualified families. Along with an annual membership to the Children’s Museum, it includes 5 program sessions with financial education workshops for adults and age appropriate financial literacy education for young children. Each session includes hands-on learning allowing parents and children to work together and separately. A certificate of completion for Credit Smart will be issued which is a qualification for some match savings and down payment assistance programs. Early Childhood: Play Dough Turkey
Nov. 11- 15 @ 10 am, 11am and 1pm
Ages 5 & under make a turkey out of play dough just in time to decorate the house for the Thanksgiving holiday. Located in the Get up and Grow room. Free with paid admission.
RAD LAB: Explore the Cosmos 
Saturday, Nov. 8 @ 1pm & 3pm & Sunday, Nov. 9 @ 3pm
Ever wondered what gives a star its color or how we know what distant stars are made of?  All ages can explore the cosmos and learn about the exciting fields of astronomy and cosmology. Free with paid admission ($9 child; $10 adult). All ages welcome. 

Home School Day
Nov. 11, 10am-3pm
This very ooey, gooey, sticky, icky day for homeschool families begins with our visitors meeting the hilarious Dr. Gross as he introduces students to the Impolite Science of the Human Body.  The day continues with hands on science activities and workshops, including:  Give Me Some Skin, Super Spit, Have Germs Will Travel and Smell Ya Later! $8 per person ($2 for members). Girl Scout Overnight & Breakfast
Friday, Nov. 14 @ 7pm & Saturday, Nov. 15 @, 8am
Girl Scouts (Brownies & Juniors) are invited to spend the night at TCMU. Have your child or the entire troop earn their First Aid badge after enjoying a “Night at the Museum.” Overnights include after-hours admission, full museum exploration, badge workshop and badge, and breakfast. Badges earned will be given to leaders at the end of the overnight. $30 per child with 1 free adult per every 5 children. Additional adults $15 each.  Register: www.tcmupstate.org

Fantastic Fibers: Circle Weavers

Ages 6 & up learn to repurpose an old CD into a beautiful woven treasure.  Free with paid admission. Limited to 12 participants, please register at the door. 

CATCH: Astronaut Food & Fitness 
Saturday, Nov 16 @ 1 & 3pm
Could you survive on freeze dried foods?  Could you get enough exercise if there was no gravity holding your feet to the ground?  Answer these questions and you’ll know if you’ve got what it takes to be an Astronaut!  Free with paid admission. All ages welcome. 

Early Childhood: Gobble! Gobble! 
Nov. 18 -22 @10 am, 11am and 1pm
Gobble, gobble ‘til you wobble, wobble is a greeting we can give each other this time of year. Children love hearing poems and stories about Thanksgiving. Ages 5 & up make a special “gobble, gobble” craft. Located in the Get up and Grow room. Free with paid admission.

What’s Cookin Kitchen: Homemade Cornbread
Saturday, Nov. 22 1 & 3pm, Sunday, Nov. 23 @1 & 3pm
Cornbread has been on America’s dinner table since the very first Thanksgiving.  Ages 5 and older learn how to make this popular dish in our What’s Cookin Kitchen.  Free with paid admission ($9 child; $10 adult) Limited attendance, please arrive early to register at the door. 

Early Childhood: Pasta Necklaces
Nov. 25 - 29 @ 10 am, 11am and 1pm
Ages 5 & under learn about the Native Americans who were invited to the first Thanksgiving feast and celebrate the holiday by making colored pasta necklaces. Located in the Get up and Grow room. Free with paid admission ($9 child; $10 adult).
