Ages 5 and under celebrate 2015 by making a New Year’s collage using different art materials. Free with admission. 

Music & Movement: Sing in the New Year

Fantastic  Fibers: Needle Felt Snowmen
Saturday, January 3 @ 11am & 2pm
Ages 6 and up create a snowman using felt, roving and a felting needle (not sharp). Free with admission. 

Story & More:  Marvelous Mittens
January 6, 7, 8, 10 @ 10am, 11am & 1pm                                
Ages 5 and under decorate paper mittens after reading the childhood favorite, “The Mitten” by Jan Brett. Free with admission. 

Dress-up & Drama

Real Tool Time
Saturday, January 10 @ 11am and 1:30pm
Ages 7 and up learn basic woodworking skills and concepts through the use of various materials such as glue, nails, screws, sandpaper, finishes, paint and hardware in this monthly program.  Limited to 6 participants; arrive early to register at the door. Free with admission. 

Rad Lab: Snowflake Science
Saturday, January 10 @ 1pm & 3pm                       
Ages 6 and up join us in Creation Station room to learn the science of how snowflakes form and make beautiful shapes. Free with admission. 

Story & More:  Cookies and Cocoa

Sometimes being a preschooler can be overwhelming. There is so much to do and see in this great big world. Wouldn’t it be great to take a little break for cookies and hot chocolate? This week features story time and sugar cookies (no peanuts) and hot chocolate (“warm” chocolate).  Free with admission. 

Kid’s Maker Fest
January 17 @ 10am-3pm
What is a MAKER? A maker is a do-it-yourself kind of person, who engages their creativity and knowledge doing hands-on projects. Some makers are science and technology oriented while others are more crafty. All makers share a passion for creating, and believe that if something can be imagined it can be made. Help us celebrate the opening of our newest exhibit, Simple Machines while meeting different maker groups from across the Carolinas and Georgia.  Enjoy hands-on workshops, product demonstrations, exhibitor booths and lots of time to play. Free with admission.

Snow days are some of children’s favorite memories. There may not be snow on the ground but ages 5 and under create their own snow scape using snowflake stamps and paint. Free with admission.

C.A.T.C.H: Simple Machine Movement
Sunday, January 25 @ 1pm & 3pm
Ages 6 and up come ready to move your muscles and exercise with us as we learn all about the simple machines in our bodies and how we can take care of them! Free with admission. 

Play in Clay: Hand Print Mittens
Saturday, January 17 @ 11am & 2pm 
Ages 6 and up explore the properties of air dry clay by rolling it out, cutting out a shape of a mitten and then pressing their hand into the clay to capture their handprint. Limited space. Free with admission. 

Creative Impact Camp (formally known as MLK Camp)
Friday, January 16 & Monday, January 19 | 9am-noon; 9am-5pm  
Places, everyone! This 2 day theatre camp teaches children how they can impact the world with their own creativity through improvisational theatre games. Classes focus on being observant, spontaneity, creativity, social skills and confidence and working together.  Children learn how to act, write stories, and even memorize lines.
