Visitors will walk chronologically through Dr. Seuss’ life and see 32 didactic panels intermingled with a collection of estate authorized artworks adapted and reproduced from original paintings, drawings and sculpture. Works in the exhibition feature rare and never-before-seen images from the 1920s to 1990s and include both original materials and imagery re-created from significant public and private collections, such as the University of California San Diego archives, the Lyndon Baines Johnson Presidential Library and the Dr. Seuss Estate.
Best known today as one of the most beloved and bestselling children’s authors of all time having written and illustrated classics such as “The Cat in the Hat,” “Green Eggs and Ham,” “The Lorax,” “Horton Hears a Who!” and “How The Grinch Stole Christmas!,” Geisel is recognized for his singular contribution as a unique and influential 20th century American artist.
