Steps for covering a journal (or composition book):
The basic black and white composition book can be bought at the 5 and Dime store for $1.50, or a flimsier version at Dollar Tree.
Use waxed paper under the book and in between front and back covers and their pages. Use Mod Podge and light sandpaper or nail files. Also needed is some kind of paper - scrapbooking or wrapping ( heavier), and scissors.
Also needed is a flat paint or craft brush and an old discarded credit card.
1) Open book onto its spine. Measure from black side binding to end of front cover. Tape lightly to front and turn over comp book. Trace underside of paper, and cut. Do the same with back cover.
2) Sand the front cover of the Comp book with either light sandpaper or nail file. Use paper towel ( dry) to wipe off the dust.
3) Be sure you’ve put wax paper between front cover and first page.) Use flat sponge paint brush to brush Mod Podge onto front of comp book.
4) Immediately place the cut and measured front right side up. Press. Take credit card and smooth out. Allow to dry atleast 15 minutes before proceeding to glue back cover.
5) Repeat steps 2-4 for back cover.
6) Brush Mod Podge on front covering all ( yes the design) with long strokes. Use credit card immediately to gently smooth out. Allow to dry 1-2 hours.
7) Repeat Step 6 for the back.
Please be sure to tell audience to use the Satin Mod Podge.
of course all these materials can be purchased at any Hobby Lobby!
Thank you, Donna!!
