The Parks & Recreation Department is dedicated to enhancing your quality of life by providing a variety of recreational programs and opportunities in safe, well-maintained facilities and parks. More than 150,000 people of all ages participated in a program, took a class, or utilized a city recreation center or park at least once last year. And all of our fitness classes, sports, cultural arts and other special programs are open to the general public and are either free or available at a modest cost.

Andrews Farm Park

A beautiful passive greenspace near the Edward Griffin Preserve on the City's Eastside.

Barnet Park*

Spartanburg’s premier outdoor events venue, the seven-acre park hosts a variety of events each year. Located downtown adjacent to the Chapman Cultural Center, it contains the Zimmerli Amphitheater, which seats approximately 1,100 in the fixed seating area, with additional seating for up to 4,900 on the terraced lawn.

Denny's Plaza Playground
This brand new playground is located in the heart on downtown! From June 7, 2021 to July 1, 2021, this playground will be closed for public use on Monday-Thursdays until 5:30pm for private use by Meeting Street Academy. The playground will be open to the public after 5:30pm until dark, Monday-Thursdays and open from 9am to dark Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Downtown Pocket Park
West Main Street near Daniel Morgan Avenue
Opened in 2012, the Downtown Pocket Park is located on West Main Street between the Masonic Temple and Carriage House Wines, directly across from the Herald-Journal offices. A partnership between Hub-Bub, Inc., the Masonic Temple, private citizens and the City transformed what was formerly an empty lot into a refuge in the heart of downtown.

Duncan Park*
