WASHINGTON, D.C. – The National Wildlife Federation is now accepting submissions for the fourth annual Garden for Wildlife™ Photo Contest through October 17, 2021. All photographers and outdoor lovers are encouraged to participate by submitting photos that exemplify the following categories:

- Close-up Native Plants and their Wildlife Visitors

The grand prize winner will be announced in early 2022, to receive $1,000 cash and a feature in the spring edition of National Wildlife Magazine. The runner up recipient will also be featured in the spring edition and receive a $500 cash prize.
“At a time of overwhelming issues for the environment and our communities, Garden for Wildlife™ provides an outlet for anyone to connect with nature and make a positive impact on themselves and their surroundings.” said Mary Philips, head of Garden for Wildlife. “With more than 267,000 Certified Wildlife Habitat® gardens throughout the United States, we want to see and share each person’s wildlife gardening experience captured in photographs that inspire others to do the same. Take this time to celebrate your efforts and help us recognize you!”
New to the contest this year is the People’s Choice Award. Each photo submission is automatically entered and viewable in the gallery for voting by the public and shareable with family and friends through social media to encourage votes. Entry fees support the mission of National Wildlife Federation.
Additional prizes include:
- Individual category winners will receive a 12-pack Garden for Wildlife native plant collection valued at $118.
- Category runner ups are awarded a six-pack of Garden for Wildlife Native Plant Collection valued at $68.
- Honorable mentions will receive a National Wildlife Federation calendar.
The contest offers three package options for those interested in submitting their photos:
- $15 for 10 photos
- $20 for 15 photos
- $25 for 20 photos (includes a free one-year digital subscription to National Wildlife Magazine)
Judging considerations include composition, image clarity, and how well the photos tell the story or show the results of planting with a purpose, for wildlife. Official rules and 2020 contest winners can be viewed on the Garden for Wildlife™ Photo Contest website.
