Piano Lessons: A Fun and Affordable Activity for Your Child

By Sponsored Content January 18, 2017
Piano lessons are a great activity for children. They can be a fun way of developing so many new skills, and few activities have more long lasting benefits. A search online of “benefits of piano lessons” will produce a myriad of articles. Many of them have support from scientific research. Just to give you an idea, here are a few of the benefits.

1. Increased coordination.
Piano lessons are a great way to increase hand/eye coordination as well as to develop the independence of hands. It’s always a joy to see a student’s face when they discover the ability to play both hands at the same time or to hold  a note in the left hand while the right hand continues to play. Achieving something they did not think possible leads to the second benefit of lessons.

2. Increased confidence.
Conquering a difficult piece, learning a new skill, or even finishing a lesson book will lead to a more confident child. Parents can experience this thrill as they watch their child perform in front of others at their first piano recital. There is no end to the smiles!

3. Increased concentration.
Of course, all the accomplishments come with an increased level of concentration. It takes focus and discipline to learn a new skill. As a child matures and develops, what better skill to master. Concentration at the piano will often translate into improved focus at school.

4. Increased creativity. As a student develops musically, his desire to explore new sounds will also increase. Instead of practicing for a lesson, you may find your child going to the piano for his own enjoyment and entertainment. What a tremendous relaxation skill to use in adulthood!
