The SIMPLE MACHINES that make life easier

January 21, 2015
From the building of the pyramids in Ancient Egypt to the construction of modern homes, bridges and skyscrapers, six simple machines help us solve everyday challenges. The Children's Museum of the Upstate (TCMU) is excited to bring you SIMPLE MACHINES, a true introduction to engineering and building. Children will learn to recognize and understand the six types of simple machines: levers, wheels and axles, pulleys, inclined planes, edges and screws, as they design and build giant structures of their own.

This unique play space includes the hugely popular Imagination Playground while introducing new, interactive elements utilizing the six simple tools that make life easier. Children will learn science and math skills through engineering, project-based and hands-on engineering,  communication, collaboration skills, critical thinking and creativity. This exhibit will be the central theme for the President’s Day Camp on Monday, February 16th as well as Spring Break Lego Camp March 30 – April 3rd. Registration is open now for children in Kindergarten through grade 5. Read on to learn how you can win 4 tickets to the museum to visit this new exhibit!
